Starting Pay

$16.00 to $20.00 per hour, depending on degree and experience. Plus an additional $3.00 to $5.00 if the successful applicant is a certified Dental Hygienist

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under direct supervision of the Director of Nursing, oversees the grant-funded Dental Sealant program, including planning and coordinating of contracted staff to place dental sealants on primary school children in multiple Ohio counties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 

*Plans, implements, and evaluates all objectives outlined in grants

*Assist in the schools with the coordination, screening, and placement of sealants

*Prepares and submits grant applications

*Reports on progress and outcomes of grant objectives

*Prepares and submits billing for all dental services provided through the Dental Sealant grant

*Nurtures relationships with local dental professionals and school administrators to secure the partnerships needed to implement the dental sealant program

*Drafts and secures contracts with local dental professionals and school administrators to facilitate

*implementation of the dental sealant program

*Communicates with local and state entities to insure the dental sealant program is delivering appropriate dental care, abiding by local and state regulations and fulfilling all grant requirements Prices, orders, inventories, cleans and maintains all necessary supplies and equipment to facilitate the placements of dental sealants on the targeted populations

*Participates in local and state meetings, conference calls, webinars, trainings and conferences relating to the dental sealant program

*Represent the Washington County Health Department at public events

QUALIFICATIONS:

One year of experience as a Dental Assistant or a Licensed Dental Hygienist

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

Knowledge of dental practices, procedures, equipment and terminology

Ability to plan, implement and evaluate multiple initiatives or objectives within projected timeframes

Ability to Google Suites or similar software

Ability to communicate effectively and make public presentations

A proactive mindset and the ability to work independently and as part of a team

Ability to foster relationships with coworkers, collaborators and the public

Ability to work quickly, precisely and accurately with detailed information

Knowledge of Appalachian culture and its impact on job duties

Valid driver's license

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Office work, field work with some manual labor, in state travel to multiple counties. After 6 months of employment and an exemplary work habit, limited remote work may be approved by the section director.

$20.00 to $24.00 per hour, depending on degree and experience

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Public Health Nurse primarily responsible for chronic disease prevention, education within the community on infection control and prevention tactics; secondarily will assist with the immunization program, specialty health clinics, and communicable disease surveillance and investigations as requested.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

*Provides education to members of the community in order to teach infection control and prevention techniques, STI/STD prevention, chronic disease management and tobacco cessation

*Administers childhood, adult and international travel immunizations in accordance with state requirements and department policy. Ensures adequate vaccine inventory and documentation

* Investigates communicable diseases within the local health jurisdiction. Communicates with local residents, regional epidemiologist and the Ohio Department of Health to unsure all disease investigations are mitigated appropriately and documented in ODRS

* Participates in specialty health clinics as determined by needs of local health district

* Communicates with government, community, industrial, academic and private organizations to support and promote public health nursing programs

* Ensures public health nursing documentation, records and reports are maintained and protected

* Participates in local, regional, state or federal meetings, conference calls, webinars, trainings and conferences relating to public health nursing as required by position or as directed by the Director of Nursing

QUALIFICATIONS:

Two years’ experience as a Nurse. Must possess current licensure as either a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Ohio. S:

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Achieves defined annual goals. Participates in General Health District’s emergency preparedness drills and responses to actual emergencies, as required. Completes other duties and trainings as required by the Health Commissioner, Administrator and Board of Health.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Job duties include office work and field work. In-state travel is required and out-of-state travel may be required. Employee must have a valid Ohio driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle.
